The Day of the Lord Traditional
Series: Major Lessons from the Minor Prophets
Summary
The prophet, Joel, underscores a number of important biblical themes in connection with the "Day of the Lord" the Lord's righteous judgment, an impassioned call to repentance, God's irrefutable mercy and grace, and God's unwavering promise that he would pour out his Spirit. We need to understand the importance of each of these themes to avoid the pitfall of bad theology which emphasizes certain attributes over the others. In the gospel, all of these themes converge to show how God's divine judgment is satisfied, how he demonstrates his mercy, and how he establishes his promises.
