Imago Dei: The Joy of Spiritual Sight
Series: Imago Dei Sunday
Summary
Every living soul has been made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27). In so being, we have been provided a special and unique place above all of God's creation. However, the fall of humankind marred our image with the ugliness of sin which separated us from God and one another. As a result, we lost our vision and ambition to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:34-40). Only a perfect, spotless Lamb, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ could restore that which sin tore asunder. Praise be unto God for providing a way of escape through the portal of the confession of sin. We have been made new in Christ, and now, joyfully, we can exclaim that the old has gone and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17). Given all of this, why do we struggle so mightily to love God and others as we should? Why do we live as though we have not been given new sight along with new life? This weekend's sermon will examine how we must restore our spiritual sight and thereby our love once more.
