Betrayed Contemporary

Joseph is betrayed by his brothers, nearly left for dead in a pit, sold into slavery, and unjustly sent to prison. In all these situations God is with Joseph. But the text gives us permission to go beyond merely speaking of God's presence. God ordained these lamentable circumstances to bring about salvation (Gen 50:20). Through Joseph's journey, we learn that God is sovereignly working to bring about salvation and that he is present with his people regardless of the circumstances.
