Alone Contemporary

Ruth had a lot going against her: her husband died leaving her without a support system, her in-laws were in financial straits, and she became a foreigner who had to beg for food. But even in the midst of bad circumstances, Ruth consistently made decisions that moved her toward God and his plan for her life. Because of Ruth's faithfulness, she not only discovered God's blessing, she became a blessing to Naomi, Boaz, and (because of her lineage to Christ) all of humanity. Ruth knew who she was regardless of external factors. When we face hardship, loss, and adversity, we can choose to be consistent in following Jesus.
